In the middle of 2024 I flew out to Europe to attend my cousins wedding in Scotland and was only planning on being there for about a month. Before I left though I had told my friend Lawrence that I would be heading over there - he lives in Latvia and is now the CEO of Klavins Piano Company. He then invited me out to stay there for a couple months and record a project in the Klavins Piano Hall.
I ended up staying in a town called Kuldigā for about 2 months, and recorded a five song EP all on a TASCAM 244 tape machine. I would go into the hall at about 6pm every night after everyone had left work for the day, and would stay there till about 12-1am each night. It was far away from everyone so I could make as much noise as I wanted, and was able to record on the 'Unacorda M189' which had an incredibly unique and beautiful tone. The recordings act as a time capsule of my 2 months living there and of course going to the wedding in between. It was my first time recording on tape and it completely changed the way I interact with recording and making music nowadays.
